The 4.0 litre Plus 8 takes major steps forward in several areas of particular interest to American enthusiasts. All USA specification Morgans are equipped with depowered driver and passenger side airbags. This development has in turn brought a large number of improvements to the interior of the car. Headroom is increased by 2", and legroom a maximum of 6". The doors have been lengthened 2" to improve ingress and egress. The instrument panel has been recessed slightly, and the control stalks modernised. The windshield is now electrically heated for defrost/demist.

The dashboard is finished in walnut veneer, and the steering column has an adjustment for rake. The firewall and wing valences are fabricated from laser cut stainless steel, the chassis is galvanized and the fenders are now made of vacuum formed aluminum.

The Plus 8 is fitted with the all aluminum, 4.0 litre Land Rover V-8 engine, the same engine & transmission fitted to the USA specification Land Rover Discovery.

The exhaust is a stainless steel dual system, steering is rack and pinion, and suspension while traditionally Morgan is controlled with adjustable, tubular shock absorbers.

The fuel system is by Lucas/Bosch Electronic Fuel Injection, power is 188 BHP @ 4750 rpm, with 232 ft. lbs. of torque @ 3000 rpm. Weighing 2250 lbs., the Plus 8 is a very easy, spirited car to drive.

The interior is carried out with Connolly's Autocalf leather. The exterior panels are steel & aluminum, and the car is available in virtually any color.

Performance: 0-60 in 6 seconds, top speed 125+ mph.
