To Morgan owners and enthusiasts everywhere, but particularly to
those in the United States: Greetings!
As some of you may have noticed, there are no new Morgan cars currently
being dispatched to the home of the brave and the land of the free.
It is hoped that we will see new Aero 8's before the end of 2009,
but none of the traditional Morgans. This is a great disappointment
to devotees of the sliding pillar, as for many of us the traditional
Morgan car defines the marque.
We at Isis have been aware of this developing situation for a considerable
period of time, and have now come up with a solution for those Plus
4 and 4/4 owners desiring more reliable and enjoyable Morgan transportation
than that offered by the Triumph/Moss box or British Ford powertrains
in their +4's and 4/4's: GM's all alloy, twin cam, 2.4 litre Ecotec
4.
This current production engine is found in the Pontiac Solstice,
Saturn Sky, Chevrolet Cobalt and Chevy HHR. It produces 173 bhp
@6200 rpm, and 163 lbs./ft. @ 4800 rpm, and utilizes variable valve
timing to produce the smooth, torquey driving feel of the Triumph
motor, with much more power available at higher rpms. Compare this
with the 105 bhp from a Plus 4 and you start to get the picture.
We couple it with the 5 speed transmission found in the Solstice,
driving through the original rear axle, cooled by a Plus 8 radiator.
In a recent trip to Los Angeles, a 1984 4/4 fitted with this combination
returned 29 mpg at 75 mph, and comfortably crested the Grapevine
in 5th gear at this speed, keeping up with traffic.
We can fit this combination to your Plus 4 or 4/4, using new components,
for $20,000. Upgrades are available for all aspects of your Morgan,
from suspension through upholstery and paintwork.
In other words, although there are no new, traditional Morgans coming
to the States, we can build you a new car out of your old car, and
at a considerable savings over the price of the new car sold in
Euope.
We will crate up all the parts removed from your car so that you
could always return to its original configuration if desired. Our
conversion does not involve any modications to the external appearance
of your Morgan.
